Your containers for floating wick candles must hold water and be able to withstand heat. Beyond that, you can be pretty creative. You might want something that goes with your theme or mood. Keep your eyes open for unconventional options.
If I was having a tea party and using my English bone china cups, I might use this little teapot for my candle holder. Or if I was having a casual supper of burgers and chilli, I might use colorful mugs.
Choose a variety of shapes: round or square; tall and narrow or short and squat. Consider both transparent and opaque items. Save the jars that capers, olives, jams and jellies come in. Baby food jars are great!!
Keep in mind that most of the volume will be filled with water, so you don’t need to worry about the amount of oil you’ll be using.
Putting small containers inside larger ones offers more opportunities for creativity. The flame can be placed low in the center where it can shine through the transparent materials in the outer jar. This is where I love to use glass marbles.
